Polyester Powder Coating

Here at Pegrex we offer a full suite of design and engineering processes, enabling clients to come to us no matter what stage a project of theirs has already reached.

Our Polyester Powder Coating Solution

For some clients this will mean bringing a fully realised design and taking their pick of the Pegrex services needed to turn that design into a reality.

Our project management experience means that we can work without a full design, however, partnering with a client to flesh out an initial brief idea and turn it into the design they are looking for, safe in the knowledge that we have the experience and expertise needed to realise that design. If needed, we can also reverse engineer plans by taking an existing component and using our analysis to determine how to reproduce it.

This kind of versatility is just one of the reasons why clients have returned to us time after time over the past 70 years, safe in the knowledge that we combine an old-fashioned reliance on engineering skill and first rate customer service with a commitment to working with the latest technology.

We’re equally at home engineering components to the kind of strict tolerances our clients in the aerospace and defence sectors demand, as we are crafting visually striking, finely tooled bespoke items for the giftware and jewellery sectors. Every one of our clients is able to pick and choose from a wide range of services, combining them in whatever way it takes to deliver the solution they are seeking.

    How We Can Help

One of these services is polyester powder coating. Polyester powder coating is a strong and effective alternative to simply using paint when it comes to providing a finish to an item. In simple terms it is like paint but applied in a powder form, and it is suitable for any surface except those which might be impacted by high temperatures.

The polyester powder itself is applied to the surface in question by an electrostatic gun which uses compressed air to project the powder.

The powder is given a positive charge which helps it to adhere to the surface, and once the coating is complete the item in question is baked in an oven. The heat of the oven causes a chemical reaction which means that the powder forms a skin which creates a tough finish when it cools.

There are many advantages to polyester powder coating. Firstly, it applies a thicker coating than traditional paints and doesn’t run or drip, meaning a consistent finish across all the surfaces of a component. Secondly, it offers the flexibility of coming in a wide range of colours and finally, the result is a high quality finish which is resistant to wear and highly resilient in the face of either sunlight or bad weather.

One other major benefit of polyester powder coating is that it doesn’t make use of potentially harmful solvents.

Excess powder can also be recycled and reused and these two factors combine to make powder coating a much more environmentally friendly choice than traditional painting.
